Arts on the Trail Information & Artist Application

Please read through the following information on application to Arts on the Trail 2024. Links for the application are provided at the bottom of the page.

Artists Guidelines

Show Standards

  1. All artwork must be recent, original, quality, handcrafted work that is designed and executed by the accepted artist, follows traditional patterns, or is a skillful adaptation of a published pattern.
  2. Work made from purchased kits is not eligible for acceptance.
  3. No resale items or discounted items will be permitted.
  4. Artists may only show work in categories approved by the Selection Committee. Selection of an artist’s work within one category shall not be deemed to authorize exhibition by the same artist in any other category.
  5. Artists must be present with their work for the entire duration of the event.
  6. Abusive or disrespectful behaviour toward Arts on the Trail patrons, volunteers, or fellow artists, by artists or their representatives, will result in immediate dismissal from the event with no refund forthcoming and disqualification from the Arts on the Trail tour in the future.
  7. You are only allowed to exhibit the type of work that has been listed on this application and approved by the selection committee.
  8. Groups of artists or artisans of the same media (ex. wood, fibre) may register together but each
member must submit individual works for the selection process. The maximum number of individuals
per group is three (3). Please note that group exhibitors will collectively have no more space than an
individual artist and that any advertising will only include the group name.
  9. The work of artists selected for the tour will be published in this year’s brochure and on the website, and social media.

Selection Process

Applicants must submit 3 – 5 separate pieces of work per media category (2 media categories maximum) as high-quality digital images. Images should be of sufficiently high quality (800 x 600 pixels min.) that will allow the Selection Committee to soundly assess and review the work. The work submitted for jurying must have been produced in the last year, and should best represent the work to be exhibited.  The selection committee reserves the right to request more photos from any individual artist if necessary.

Applicants may submit up to two (2) images of each piece submitted. We recommend multiple views be submitted for 3-dimensional work (i.e. sculpture, pottery, etc.).

Each entry must be clearly identified as belonging to a specific media category listed below:

  1. Ceramics/Stone/Sculpture
  2. Digital Art
  3. Drawing/Pastel
  4. Fabric/Fibre
  5. Food Art
  6. Glass
  7. Jewellery
  8. Metal
  9. Mixed Media
  10. Painting
  11. Photography
  12. Print Making
  13. Wood
  14. Other (please specify on the application form)

Note: To provide the best experience for visitors to the Tour, the Arts on the Trail Committee will assign exhibitors to locations so that a variety of media is on display.  Hall capacity may also determine the number of artists at each location. Exhibitors cannot request a specific location.
